Normally, a patient sees their primary, primary refers to specialist, and specialist orders a plethora of scans/testing that leads to fear avoidance. The combination of this, patient experience, their support system, maladaptive beliefs, and good ol' Dr. Google usually lead to worse outcomes than if the patient did not receive the scans.
