I was doing consults at the local gymnastics facility my daughters compete for and one of the coaches jammed his finger playing football a few weeks before. He was left with residual pain in his right hand 4th DIP anytime he tries to bend.
It reminded me of a quick and easy self mobilization. This works for most IP joints and MCP joints (as well as toes) that have pain or loss of mobility. Try it, it's an easy mobilization to perform and also to teach for home program. He had instant relief and more importantly an easy enough home program to dose regularly throughout the day.
