Quick Links!
Today's Quick Links come from Henley Sports Performance, Informa Health Care, and Sports Medicine Research.
Drew Henley recently wrote a free ebook of inspirational quotes, you can download it here. They're a bit more applicable to athletes, but that doesn't mean there aren't a lot of good ones in there.
What are factors that you associate with PF syndrome? SMR reviews a meta-analysis that examined this. Several factors that were identified are things I was taught in PT school, such as q-angle. Since we can't change this, I would suggest not measuring it. Other factors like decreased hip ER and abduction strength are things we can focus on.
Informa Health Care made a study available for downloading on a systematic review of Biopsychosocial Factors in Musculoskeletal disorders. After a review of the literature, they found that in as early as the acute phase, these factors are prognostic of outcomes. There were also negligible differences in prognostic factors between acute, subacute, and chronic. Makes sense, a sensitized CNS will still increase the perceived threat no matter which point they are in the phase of "healing."
